IPL - SHR technology

The latest technology in IPL has just arrived at Petries Cottage in the form of Super Hair Removal (SHR). It’s a huge step forward in permanent hair reduction. With in-motion technology - it’s faster, it’s safer and its pain free. And I do mean pain free and super fast.

Rather than bombarding your skin with high amounts of Joules (energy); SHR fires multiple shots but at low Joules. This gently heats the hair follicle to the heat needed and the most you will feel is warmth and a tingling sensation.

Most of you know with IPL depends on skin type well...SHR is suitable for all skin types, even tanners. Unlike traditional Laser and IPL, SHR can be had all year round without having to hide from the sun. With new Technology ideal for LIGHTER and Blonde HAIR.

The benefit of IPL hair reduction (as opposed to waxing) is that you’re working towards a seriously decreased growth of hair. Depending on your skin colour and hair colour will depend on your result! Therefore results are extremely individual and this is why a full consultation is required, we at Petries Cottage can actually give you an estimate of the result in the consultation.

Also cost!! Even though the initial outlay of cost for IPL hair removal will seem quite a lot. Compared to on-going waxing cost, it is actually more cost effective than waxing! With the advances in technology IPL is more cost effective than even 5 years ago.

Hair removal with IPL or laser uses heat from light rays to target hair roots, incapacitating it from ever growing again. Depending on the growth phase of the hair follicle, only approximately ten percent of the hair is successfully disabled each time. We recommend multiple sessions to achieve an acceptable level of hair removal. Most clients will see results after 6 – 8 treatments on the proviso that treatment appointments are strictly adhered to. This is intended to capture as many hairs as possible during its growth phase. While there is some immediate hair loss, the more common result is for hair to continue falling out over the next two to three weeks. Subsequent maintenance treatments are only required once every six to twelve months.

Other factors affecting the number of treatment sessions required are the area being treated, skin type, hair colour, age, gender, hormones and metabolism. Medical conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) will experience poor result and clients should consult their doctors before undergoing hair reduction treatments.

We do have to consider photosensitivity and other contra indications but we go through all this with you with an introductory email so we arent wasting your time. If you would like a complimentary consult and to understand more about this pain free hair removal please give us a call and ask for Cass or Lea. We could love to hear from you
